Avatar reLearn 1.1
1. Begin film with conceptualization.
2. If you do not have an original idea (and who does?) and cannot invent one (that's a tough one too): (a) use a story from history or (b) "adopt" someone else's story (and, well? hell, call it your own) or (c) do what Mr. Cameron did with Avatar
Now, Mr. Cameron used a story from history (Titanic) so we know that he knows that Hollywood trick and we know that he is good at "adopting" stories, but Avatar is new territory..
3. If writing Science Fiction all bets are off except ONE, make it believable...
Mr. Cameron suffers from JLS which signals that something in the Avatar formula will go wrong.... and it does, he mounts an a historical structure onto his script that cannot hold the burden of carrying the film... Lesson 1.2 to follow....
